Todd Reynolds is violinist for the Steve Reich Ensemble, Meredith Monk, The Books, Yo Yo Ma's Silk Road Project, a founder of the Ethel String Quartet and endorsed by Ableton Live. He will perform works for processed violin/interactive electronics/video and a newly commissioned work by Cox with the full Robin Cox Ensemble.

Three new quicktime movies are up on the video page -music by Dan Becker, live performance with Amy X Neuburg, and a new Square Feet video. Also, we've posted a live performance mp3 from last year of Levitation Games on the music page.

Our next few months will unveil many exciting projects.

First, we'll be in Hollywood recording for Groove Note Records an expanded version of "Square Feet". This will be for a high-end audiofile LP release of works featuring percussion. We'll be sure and post the news of a release date when we get it.

Second, February brings the premiere of a project with the amazing San Francisco vocalist/electronic sound artist Amy X Neuburg. Amy will perform with us on arrangements of her works, and we'll premiere a piece she's written just for RCE. After February performances in Santa Barbara, we'll bring this show to Santa Monica in April.

Third, April has us performing works by composer Bill Ryan , including a new commission for RCE. Ryan had been getting a lot of attention lately for his direction of a critically acclaimed CD release and a live performance on the Bang on a Can Marathon with the students of Michigan's Grand Valley State University of Steve Reich's Music for 18 Musicians -he's also a heck of a composer too!

Fourth, we'll complete the spring with "One Minute Wonders" performing in a row on May 5th thirty one-minute works created for RCE by the composition students of Cal State University -Long Beach .

Big collaboration to announce: We are embarking on a major performance project
for spring 2007 with the Common Sense Composer's Collective, who will be creating new works for the ensemble. The impressive roster of the collective includes Dan Becker, John Halle, Ed Harsh, Mellisa Hui, Marc Mellits, Belinda Reynolds, Randall Woolf, and Carolyn Yarnell. Changing of the Guard: Clarinetist Elana Weber has decided to shift gears and is leaving RCE. We're sorry to lose a terrific player to life pursuits outside of music, but are happy for Elana in her excitement heading towards a new career.

The ensemble has won the 2003 Lester Horton Award for Outstanding Achievement in Music for Dance for collaboration with Loretta Livingston and Dancers. This is the third year in a row that the ensemble and music composed by Robin Cox has been nominated, and the second win in a row.  LINK

RCE has received commitments from an exciting group of artistic collaborators for spring 2004. In February 04, RCE will perform at UC -Irvine with the choreography of Loretta Livingston. In April/May 04, RCE will tour California with new collaborations involving filmmaker Kwame Braun, performance artist Judy Bauerlein, choreographer Stephanie Nugent, and composer/animator Carolyn Bremer.
